Liverpool fans react to Timo Werner’s comments

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Timo Werner spoke to Sky Sports.

The Germany forward – who has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield this summer – revealed that he is unsure of joining a huge English club such as Manchester City, Manchester United or Liverpool, and remains unconvinced that he would be better placed with any of those sides rather than staying with Bundesliga title chasers RB Leipzig.

His comments come at a strange time.

It was recently reported by The Athletic – an extremely reliable outlet – that Liverpool have until April to complete a £51m move for the former Stuttgart striker, who is believed to be holding out for the European champions despite having offers from Manchester United and Barcelona on the table.

So, his recent comments implying that he is unsure of making a move to Anfield add a different dimension to the transfer saga, and have certainly sparked a reaction from supporters on Twitter.

Let’s see what they’ve been saying about the comments…

To kick off the reaction, one fan called Werner’s words “weird” as he was “begging” Liverpool to sign him recently – he wasn’t exactly on his knees for the Merseysiders, but the RB Leipzig forward did speak very highly of the Reds after his goal handed the German side a 1-0 win over Tottenham recently.

Also, two other fans urged the striker to stop talking – this advice should probably be followed by the 24-year-old, as he has done far too much talking regarding a move despite still being at RB Leipzig, which could be deemed as disrespectful to his club.

Elsewhere, another fan said that they’re “bored” of the whole saga, while another feels that Werner isn’t coming to Liverpool anymore.

While it may all start to feel quite tiresome, Liverpool and their supporters should definitely still remain interested in pursuing this deal given his immense goalscoring talents.

No clues: Can you name the season these iconic Liverpool images belong to?

So far this term, the German has netted an astonishing 21 goals in just 24 Bundesliga starts, as well as four goal in seven Champions League outings and two in three DFB-Pokal appearances – he is truly prolific.

In other news, some Liverpool fans are baffled by a report which “only makes sense if we sign Sancho”…
