An industry insider has claimed that more games from the Metroid Prime series could be making their way to the Nintendo Switch at some point in the future, though there was no mention of whether these games would also receive dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 versions. The original Metroid Prime was released back in 2002 for the Nintendo Gamecube and was most recently remastered for the Nintendo Switch in 2023.
Following the release of the original Metroid Prime in 2002, Nintendo released Metroid Prime 2: Echoes for the Gamecube in 2004. Nintendo then continued to expand on the franchise by releasing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for the Wii in 2007. After the success of Metroid Prime Remastered in 2023, many fans of the franchise were hoping to see a remaster of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, though Nintendo never officially announced a port or remaster for the modern console.
Metroid Prime 2 and 3 Could Be Coming to Nintendo Switch
In a recent post on Twitter, the Nintendo insider Nash Weedle claimed that all Metroid Prime titles will be making their way to the Nintendo Switch at some point in the future. While the insider didn’t elaborate on whether these would be ports or remasters, some people are already expressing their desire to see all the titles receive the remaster treatment. While Nash Weedle stated that the titles would be making their way to Nintendo Switch, they didn’t make any mention of dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 versions of the titles. Due to backwards compatibility, both games would most likely be playable on Nintendo Switch 2, though it’s always possible they could receive dedicated versions for the modern console with increased frame rates and graphics.
Many fans of the franchise are already eagerly awaiting the release of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which will release on December 4, 2025, with dedicated versions for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The publisher recently made an update to the title’s description, providing more insight into Metroid Prime 4: Beyond‘s Vi-O-La motorcycle and how it will be used in-game. While Nash Weedle didn’t provide any kind of release window for Metroid Prime 2: Echoes or Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on Nintendo Switch, it’s always possible that the publisher could release all three games around the same time.
As with all leaks and rumors, this information should be taken with a grain of salt until Nintendo makes an official announcement. While ports or remasters could be on the way, it’s always possible that such plans could change behind the scenes without public knowledge. With Metroid Prime 4: Beyond arriving in December 2025 and more potential remasters possibly on the way, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of the iconic Nintendo franchise.
